The Head of Workforce Analysis is a senior role within the Strategic Finance & Productivity Team. The role is responsible for utilizing data to help drive decision making related to Northern Trust’s workforce including strategic initiatives that deliver benefits to the organization such as cost savings, enhanced controls, and the ability to deliver insights and analysis more rapidly.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with senior leadership in HR and Finance to establish workforce productivity goals, using predictive analysis to forecast headcount and compensation costs, and developing tools and controls to ensure growth does not outpace established benchmarks and cost appetite.
• Collaborate across divisions to deliver analysis and reporting related to staffing levels and costs associated with both internal and third-party resources, which provide insights and measure performance against strategic goals, bridging disparate data sets across the organization to provide a holistic view of Northern Trust’s workforce.
• Establish governance & decision-making frameworks aligned to strategic vision for workforce management.
• Contextualize financial results related to compensation costs, including variance analysis and cause-of-change attribution, to assist CFO and Investor Relations with quarterly earnings deliverables.
• Ongoing strategic workforce initiatives including:
  • Functional assessments, location strategy, delayering, and span of control optimization
  • Establishing metrics to guide change and aid in accountability
  • Establishing appropriate change management to support new technology, data, and productivity tools.
• Ad hoc analysis may be requested on elements outside of workforce.

Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential for success in this role
• 10 + years of experience in a financial analysis role, preferably within a Finance or Human Resources organization, with a focus on using data to understand drivers of results and trends
• Experience with Workday and/or financial reporting a plus. Advanced Excel skills are critical, and experience with Power BI is preferred. 
• Excellent critical thinking, curiosity and creativity about how technology is used to solve business challenges.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences including executives.
• Flexibility and adaptability to change
• A college or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience in financial analysis
