Senior SQL Developer

Overview of the Role

• The Senior Database Developer designs, develops, and optimizes relational database solutions to meet business needs, ensuring performance and security. They collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and stay updated on best practices and technologies. Expertise in SQL, database performance tuning, and data security is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement database solutions to support business requirements. 
• Optimize database performance and scalability, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization. 
• Develop and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, triggers, and functions. 
• Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define database architecture, and implement solutions that meet business needs. 
• Evaluate and recommend database technologies, tools, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the database development team.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in database development, with a focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases. 
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL). 
• Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling techniques, and normalization/de-normalization concepts. 
• Experience with database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques. 
• Knowledge of database security concepts, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and access controls. 
• Familiarity with database administration tasks such as backup and recovery, replication, and high availability solutions. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge in the NoSQL database 
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge in Agile methodology
