Senior SRE Engineer - Remote US

There is a unique opportunity to accelerate the electrification journey with cleantech solutions. GridX is looking for an experienced and exceptional Senior SRE Engineer to become a part of our SRE team.
This Senior SRE Engineer will become a part of the team that owns the process, implementation, and management for a reliable, available, manageable, performant, and scalable cloud-based infrastructure working closely with the development and the automation teams.
Objectives of this Role

• Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
• Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
• Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
• Run our cloud based (AWS) development, staging and production environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health and optimizing cost
• Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve the utilization, availability, and reliability
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for our cloud-based solutions for multiple enterprise customers

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in deployment automation, performance tuning, fault finding and cost optimization
• Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
• Experience in monitoring, alerting, and ensuring that the entire infrastructure is proactively ahead of security vulnerabilities

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
• 5+ years' experience with cloud-based infrastructure providers like AWS (required) and
  GCP (nice to have), Azure (nice to have)
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub is required
• Familiarity with Terraform or Ansible and other scripting like Python is required
• Experience with database and distributed storage technologies like NFS, HDFS, S3
• Experience with dynamic resource management frameworks like Kubernetes, Docker,
  and other container frameworks in general
• Practical deployment, configuration and maintenance experience with Spark, Akka,
• A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance
  bottlenecks
• Enthusiastic, go-for-it, motivated to get things done approach

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with using build, version control and monitoring tools like Jenkins,
  DataDog, Splunk is preferred
• Previous success in technical engineering
• Coding experience beyond simple scripts
• Experience working in a startup environment
