About the Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team in Carlsbad, CA, or Chelsea, NY. This person would be an integral part of the Accounting team. This position is expected to have a solid working knowledge of GAAP, as well as a strong sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities proactively and enhance controllership process across the organization. This person’s principal responsibilities will be to take ownership of the merchant bank reconciliation and inventory reconciliation processes, as well as perform assigned balance sheet reconciliations, and assist in reviewing journal entries and reconciliations performed by Staff Accountants. Responsibilities include:

• Take ownership of merchant bank reconciliation processes and inventory reconciliation processes for high-volume transactions
• Perform reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers to resolve outstanding open items to help in ensuring correctness of financial statements
• Assist with month-end financial close; compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but not limited to: Inventory, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Payroll etc.
• Assist in reviewing journal entries and reconciliations performed by Staff Accountants
• Assist with the monthly Sales Tax Return filing process 
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the manager(s)

 What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting 
• A minimum of 3.5 years prior Accounting experience
• Strong accounting background with knowledge of general ledger and accounting principles according to GAAP and inventory 
• Experience with creating and conducting merchant bank reconciliations
• Experience working with ERP systems 
• Strong ability to proactively identify and solve problems and see the big picture
• High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Extremely organized, high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with SAGE 300 & NetSuite is a strong plus
• Experience working in an eCommerce environment 
• Experience working in high volume
• Experience with financial audits

Target Hiring Range: $50,000- 83,000 and is dependent upon employee work location and experience.
