Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and naturally curious individual to join our accounting team. You will get exposure to a variety of areas within the accounting function and have an opportunity to assist with developing processes and procedures for a rapidly growing biotech company.

Requirements

• Prepare monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately, including tracking and analyzing variances and ensuring proper cut-off
• Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Own the month-end close processes
• Assist with preparation of the monthly/quarterly financial reporting package to management and investors
• Assist with annual audit preparation and audit requests
• Review weekly bill runs
• Support implementation of new software projects, including ERP
• Identify, communicate, and implement process improvement
• Assist in identifying and recommending cost-effective solutions of enforcement of Internal controls, creating procedures
• Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the company.

What you bring to this role

• Public accounting experience preferred
• 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Bachelors in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience through which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained
• Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task across multiple systems
• CPA is preferred (or working towards obtaining certification within a year)
• Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software including Excel (Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
