About the team

The Finance Engineering team is at the core of Stripe to empower mission-critical financial domains including Accounting, Finance & Strategy, and Treasury. Engineers on the Financial Engineering team build platforms, data pipelines, and financial products. The use cases include financial analytics and insights, financial planning & forecasting, and financial business intelligence.

What you’ll do

We are currently seeking a technical advisor that can span Finance-wide engineering projects. This role will partner closely with the Head of Finance Systems, with the goal of brainstorming technical action items, assisting with urgent technical follow-ups, and working with Stripe leadership.

Responsibilities

• Sr Staff or Principal engineer with 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Ability to deeply understand Stripe products understand how it translates to Financial data
• Familiarity with scalable data systems such as Spark, Flink, Trino, and Kafka
• Hands-on technically: willingness to roll up sleeves and dive into technical details
• Drive technical design across multiple engineering teams towards a business outcome
• Excellent communicator and proactive in raising emergent risks or key trade-offs

Minimum requirements

• 10+ years professional software development experience, including technical leadership of projects across teams or product areas
• Experience leading complex discussions with sr leadership across the company. 
• Experience designing and implementing solutions to large scale data problems
• Have delivered large scale production systems
• Attention to high quality code
• We work mostly in Scala, Java, Ruby, and Javascript. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
• Ability and willingness to commute to Stripe's South San Francisco or Seattle offices 2x / week
