INSIDE THIS BUSINESS GROUP:
The Systems Architecture Lab (SAL) is developing innovative technology focusing on addressing two of the key challenges facing today’s AI and HPC applications, namely memory and communication bandwidth.  Using Samsung’s world leading memory technology, we will be designing systems to break through the memory and communication walls and improving developer productivity. The effort will be across hardware including memory, networking, compute, power, and RAS; software, including system software, frameworks, and runtimes; and application and performance modeling. OVERVIEW & IMPACT:
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated technical leader with experience in HPC operating system teams to work on our OS effort with the hardware and fabric teams and our software runtime and communication teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Explore, design, and innovate in scalable operating systems for AI and HPC machines
- Provide technical leadership and drive technical direction for components of operating systems especially as they interact with runtimes for AI and HPC applications
- Contribute to technical communication and collaboration with customers and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Participate in cross-site, cross-function team collaborations
- Be able to conduct experiments to allow the analysis of performance implications of architectural design decisions
- Be able to effective in technically interacting with architects as well as other engineers
- Be able to travel domestic or internationally when required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
- PhD in Computer Science with at least 3-5 years of experience in HPC and operating systems, or a MS in Computer Science with 6-8 years of relevant experience in HPC and operating systems, or a BS in Computer Science and 8-10years of relevant experience in HPC and operating systems, is required.
- 3+ years of experience working on scalable HPC systems
- Hands-on experience in C/C++ programming
- Hands-on experience with debuggers
- Strong verbal and written skills for communication and documentation of technical information
- Working knowledge of application design and development processes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a local and distributed team
