The Opportunity

We are a small dynamic team within Nutanix that is working on a DBaaS product, NDB. NDB enables managing and operating databases at scale using a unified UI and REST API interface for popular open source and enterprise Database EnginesIt enables standardization across an organization's database estate while introducing efficiency, agility, scalability, and cost savings for Day 1 to Day N operations of Databases (provisioning, high availability, patching, scaling, upgrades, backup/restore and efficient database copies). Engineering / R&D at Nutanix

The team that this role will be a part of is the NDB engineering team at Nutanix. This team is responsible for developing the Nutanix Database Service (NDB), a DBaaS product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The team is small, dynamic, and works in a collaborative environment that encourages open exploration of ideas. They work closely with product management and the UX team to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment. The team is distributed across different locations and is focused on creating scalable, modular, and extensible components for NDB.

Your Role

• Lead technical direction for major product areas of the Nutanix Database Service (NDB).
• Drive the design for scalable, modular, and extensible components and define future technical vision for the product.
• Develop a deep understanding of customer use cases and design innovative solutions for customer requirements.
• Work closely with tech leads, engineers, and product management to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment.
• Work closely with the UX team to provide customers a simple and delightful experience.
• Collaborate with other product architects at Nutanix and ensure alignment with the overall Nutanix vision.
• Write whitepapers and blogs, file patents, and represent Nutanix in external seminars.
• Coach/Mentor Staff Engineers in the team to enable them to grow to the next level.

What You Will Bring

• Experience working with and building on hybrid multi-cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience working with databases is a plus (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, Go, Python
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing storage, networking, and virtualization products.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required. Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred.
• Experience of 15+ years developing highly scalable and available software.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 213,600 and USD $ 427,200 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
