Job Description
We are looking for a senior staff software engineer who is an expert in automation tooling development. The person will be responsible for setting up the strategy, architecting the ecosystem, and implementing tools that facilitate test automation for product engineering teams across the organization. The person will provide systematic quality and performance metrics on Motorola’s product offerings.Â
What you’ll do:

Lead the development of the overall test automation ecosystem that will increase testing efficiency and enable product engineering teams’ self-testing.

Architect and implement the monitoring, reporting, issue tracing, and other supporting services to provide insights, metrics, and risks of overall product quality and performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify the needs of quality improvements and required automation tooling.Â

Perform code reviews to ensure code quality of built tools and internal facing services.

Design quality guidelines on ensuring product performance, scalability, and high reliability.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers as they propose, prototype, evaluate, and iterate solutions.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivalent work experience required.

Proven skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and Java development.

8+ years of professional experience in test automation framework development from scratch on API, web UI, and mobile with CI/CD pipeline integration or in software engineering web development.Â

Strong communication skills.
Note: Candidate must be in the Chicago office 2 times a week.

Basic Requirements

Bachelors degree with 8+ years of test automation framework development experience.

OR Bachelors degree with 8+ years of software engineering experience.
