The Role

We are looking for a passionate, purpose-driven and growth-minded Senior Strategy Director to work with our team in leading and growing the largest practice at co: – our Business and Brand practice. This practice helps clients define a purpose, develop brand strategy, frame brand architectures, map growth strategies, create new offerings, brands, and businesses, and deeply understand their customers and context through primary research.


The Senior Strategy Director is one of the senior-most leaders of the Business and Brand practice, a critical partner to the other strategy directors, as well as CSO, of this practice.


The primary objectives of this role are: 

- Champion a purpose-led approach to business transformation, identifying methodologies, clients and partners that ensure we are building a more purpose-led future

- Nurture, develop and deploy a team of multi-disciplinary strategists and writers

- Work in tandem with other senior leaders to drive new business efforts and grow revenue

- Develop IP, thought leadership and marketing for the practice and in purpose-led transformation

- Lead best-in-class business and brand projects that drive measurable impact for our clients.

What you'll be


1. Champion a purpose-led approach to business transformation, identifying methodologies, clients and partners that ensure we are building a more purpose-led future.

- Partner with other practice leaders to identify opportunities, partnerships and clients for multidisciplinary, purpose-led transformation

- Continue to evolve and pressure test co:’s unique approach to purpose-led transformation to ensure we are driving impact for our clients and the world

- Advocate for and champion a purpose-led approach to leadership and business and brand building in the world


2. Nurture, develop and deploy a team of multi-disciplinary business, brand and creative strategists

- Work with the other leaders of the practice to grow, manage and inspire the Business and Brand team, ensuring diverse representation on the team across multiple dimensions

- Invest in developing our teams’ skills, through coaching and formal training in purpose-led transformation

- Create clear pathways for talent to develop their career at co:, including specializing within the practice area


3. Develop IP, thought leadership and marketing for the practice and in purpose-led transformation

- Be a part of setting the vision for the practice and how it contributes to the overall ambition and growth of co:

- Evolve our service offerings, ways of working, pricing, and staffing models to keep us ahead of the curve

- Create and disseminate thought leadership for the Brand and Business practice

- Actively contribute to public dialogue in the Brand and Business space as a visible writer and speaker

- Synchronize overlap points with other practices and work with other practice leaders to develop co: as a whole


4. Lead best-in-class business and brand projects that drive measurable impact for our clients.

- Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality work that meets client goals

- Work with senior members of the team on pitching new business and winning new clients

- Provide trusted guidance to senior-level clients

- Establish frameworks, templates, and best practices; ensure teams are trained and skilled in using them

- Lead teams in retrospectives to foster continued growth over time

- Run quarterly business reviews of work within practice


What you've done

- Spent 10-15 years working within the creative, marketing, brand strategy, innovation, or social impact spaces (creative/marketing/agency side experience is vital, and client side experience a welcome extra)

- Have a proven track record of brand transformation, purpose-led or oriented work, creative strategy, social innovation and impact strategy, etc.

- Led the growth of a practice or client portfolio, developing teams and selling and serving work ($5-10MM+)

- Brought new client relationships into a business, whether through your contacts or from new RFPs

- Found and developed new business opportunities and grown revenues within an existing client base

- Led impactful, innovative work at the intersection of business and brand strategy, design, and innovation
