The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in new product development, sustaining, and supplier development. In this role, you will own the evaluation of suppliers by conducting audits and driving corrective actions to mitigate systemic gaps identified. Leading supplier product qualifications will be critical in ensuring the success of downstream teams and production sites. This role will have a heavy focus on resolving supplier nonconformance's using problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D. Building strong interpersonal relationships with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and other cross functions is key in becoming a successful SQE.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

  • Identify, develop, and manage key strategic supplier relationships.
  • Develop strategic and tactical relationships with Contract Manufacturers (CM) to build mutual long-term successful partnerships.
  • Work closely with engineering and supply chain to support strategic development activities and associated commodity risk management.
  • Function as a strong technical liaison between supplier and internal cross-functions.
  • Perform as technical expert by owning commodity and represent the requirements and capabilities of that commodity with a focus on enabling optimized supplier performance.
  • Work with Quality and other cross-functional leads to develop supplier selection, supplier qualification, supplier performance, and other supplier continuous improvement processes.
  • Lead supplier quality meetings by representing structures commodity ownership with technical authority and competency to set right expectations for supplier quality capabilities.
  • Work with CMs, suppliers, and sub-tier suppliers to develop proactive quality inspection methods to build confidence in supplied parts/assemblies. 
  • Conduct quality risk assessment for structures product line using FMEA techniques. Develop risk mitigation plans for critical processes which have high severity and occurrence ratings. Drive actions by identifying process prevention and detection controls.
  • Involve, engage, and represent supplier quality in new part qualification and FAI process.
  • Collaborate with procurement, materials management, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to develop DFM (Design For Manufacturability) and OQC (Outgoing Quality Control) processes.
  • Develop supplier performance monitoring and measurement techniques like scorecards to identify rejection trends for structures commodity.
  • Conduct onsite product, process, and system audits. Drive audit non-conformance gaps to closure.
  • Work with Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to understand supplier quality nonconformances. Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions by collaborating closely with suppliers.
  • Lead multi-site containments by Identifying disposition decisions with sense of urgency.
  • Use problem-solving methodologies to measure, analyze and improve supplier performance by reducing/eliminating supplier non-conformances.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related technical/engineering experience, with a background in Electro-Mechanical assembly and Component manufacturing across a variety of commodity groups. Automation & Robotics background is ideal.
  • Bachelors / master’s in engineering or equivalent experience in high tech manufacturing companies.
  • Experience dealing with structure mechanical and electrical components is desirable.
  • Sheet Metal, roll forming, stamping, welding, and other electro-mechanical manufacturing processes is highly desired.
  • Experience in providing input during mechanical and/or electric design reviews with a strong ability to interpret requirements using GD&T.
  • Knowledge of New Product Development using PPAP/APQP processes. 
  • Problem Solving techniques such as 8D, CAPA, GR&R, MSA, DMAIC, FMEA, DOE, FTA, etc. 
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO13485, TS16949 or equivalent Quality Management Systems. 
  • ASQ certification (CSQP, CQE, CQA, CSSGB, or CSSBB) is preferred. 
  • Experience with Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) reporting process.
  • Knowledge and application of statistics with a clear understanding of SPC, process capability, Cpk, MSA, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, AQL sampling, etc.
  • Work successfully in a collaborative team environment. Constructively influence team decisions with facts based and data-driven approach.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working without direction or supervision to achieve team goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Being able to communicate across all levels of the organization is a key skill to be successful in this role. 
  • Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Training and project experience is a plus.
  • Willing to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.
