This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work.

Job Summary

The position will effectively manage the Supply Base for specific commodity areas, performing all aspects of supplier risk management and overseeing compliance of supplier agreements. Effectively manage Supply Base in line with best-in-class expectations. Lead the development of long-term sourcing strategies and manage complex commodity and supplier relationships. Ensure commodity-based benchmarking through cost and performance, maintain relationships with suppliers, and manage complex supplier transitions. Perform all aspects of supplier risk management and oversee compliance of supplier agreements for specific commodities.

You will also be responsible for supporting product development as it relates to purchasing activity for systems and components ranging from concept and process selection, cost modeling, and project management. This position takes a lead part in component development activity related to new product launches, builds, and purchasing processes. Ability to analyze and manage components through process and product verification, validation, and product launch. Responsible for multiple component cost, quality, and timing requirements per business case commitments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates in depth conceptual and practical knowledge in Supply Base and basic knowledge of related areas such as statistical operator control (SOC), just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, cost management tools, benchmarking, and other quality and continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge and experience in working with suppliers and engagement in the product development process. Ability to drive results with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Impacts quality of their own work through assessing risk and proactively mitigate, manage, and escalate appropriately as well as the work of others on their team.
  • Solves complex supplier management problems related to Supply Base by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Effectively communicate complex information involving Project teams, engineering system groups, suppliers, parts and accessories, and Harley-Davidson operations purchasing personnel.
Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience Requirements

Required

  • Five years of comparable experience.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of best practices in Supply Base and how their own area integrates with others to drive results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and/or lead a group or team providing guidance to members.
  • Proven track record of production or procurement of components and subsystems.
  • Expertise in program management and ability to implement strategic purchasing relationships with suppliers.
  • Travel required up to 25%.
Preferred

  • Experience in an automotive or motorcycle manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production or procurement of components and subsystems, Capability Studies, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEAs), Control Plans, just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, cost management tools, other quality and continuous improvement tools, and implementing strategic purchasing relationships with suppliers.
  • Experience or knowledge with Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
