SUMMARY

MatrixCare is looking for a Senior System Administrator who will oversee the remediation, migration and modernization of a mission critical internal network used to support our product development teams. This position reports to our Director of Developer Productivity and will work closely with engineering leadership and in coordination with our R&D groups.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Migrate and upgrade older windows and Linux VMs onto new hardware and perform OS upgrades.
• Implement IT practices and governance, including
  • Creating runbooks to deal with common activities such as server retirement
  • Creation, and application of group policies
  • Implementing security best practices, etc.
• Automate common activities like patching, backups, log cleanup, etc.
• Implement monitoring and alerting

Experience:

• The ability to work largely self-directed. You are given a large internal network with a mandate to update it. You create a plan with a timeline to upgrade/modernize the network, document the resources needed, and then execute that plan
• Understanding of SQL (SQL Server and Oracle)
• Understanding of Windows Administration and troubleshooting
• Understanding of Linux Administration and troubleshooting
• Understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting
• Docker/Docker Swarm Administration (desirable but not required)
• Understanding of MSFT Active Directory Administration
• Understanding of MSFT DNS Administration
• Scripting experience in one or more languages (e.g. PowerShell, Bash)
• Familiarity with troubleshooting:
  • Middleware
  • Java
  • Tomcat
  • IIS

Education

• Bachelor's degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
