Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our team in an Agile environment. As a Senior System Administrator, you will apply your expertise to multiple complex work assignments, requiring originality and innovation in determining the most effective solutions. You will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, implementing system enhancements, and ensuring the security and reliability of the system. Complete Description

As a Senior System Administrator at Caribou Thunder, you will perform as a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator for a large-classified government contract.

• You will work collaboratively with network, software, hardware, and system engineers, end users, and IT management to maintain the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. This includes completing necessary administration tasks, implementing system enhancements, and providing backup and recovery services.
• You will also play a crucial role in ensuring the security of the system by managing file systems, disk space, and virus protection.
• Creating and maintaining user and computer accounts, modifying file permissions, and adhering to strict information systems security guidelines will be part of your responsibilities.
• Additionally, you will interact with vendors, evaluate their products and services, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• In this role, you will work under minimal direction and independently determine approaches to solving complex problems.
• You will be responsible for the creation and deployment of Windows and Linux system images in an enterprise environment.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of server administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of the start date
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
• Willingness to work after hours and on weekends as needed
• Effective communication at all levels of the organization, both written and oral, is vital

Preferred Requirements

• Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments
• Experience with Trusted Guard
• RHEL System Administration certification
• Experience with NAS storage device administration (preferably NetApp) using ONTAP 8.x or higher
• Solid understanding of Enterprise-level storage concepts, including commonly used RAID levels
• Experience with Satellite configuration and usage
• Familiarity with remediating security vulnerabilities and hardening Linux systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs
• Proficiency in Ansible, Puppet, RHEL 6/7/8, and Satellite
• Strong writing skills and experience using Wiki pages and SharePoint sites for documentation
• DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux, Cisco)
• Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification
