Senior System Engineer, Database Administration

Job Posting:

Position will be based on Remote, India.

The position is expected to provide thought leadership and strategies to evolve Global IT Automation, Monitoring, Power BI, Power Platforms, and Data Services offering, pro-actively contributing to infrastructure, database and application availability, optimization, and resiliency by contributing directly to design and operational processes.

Engineering, Operations, and Code Development:

• Develop automation code and run data services automation code test execution inclusive of infrastructure, security, network, systems, application, hardware, and software to identify bugs and quality issues in code development, services, and processes. Create, Maintain and update SOPs for data, analytic, reporting services functional area disaster recovery. Perform periodic review and testing for database recovery processes.
• Ensure that data services and automation solutions adhere to security standards, risk, and compliance requirements, implement access controls, and monitor for code bugs, vulnerabilities, and/or risks adhering to versioning, refactoring and documentation standards. Comply with Kontoor change management control, incident response, testing and validate infrastructure changes or problems across the hybrid-cloud infrastructure and distributed environment.

Architecture Standards and Strategy:

• Serving as the subject matter expert/lead technical resource for Kontoor Enterprise Data Services to achieve a state-of-the-art database environment with major focus on establishing database-as-a-service (DBaaS) using Kontoor enterprise IT automation platform tools that meets current / future business objectives by working within architectural standards, software development, security, network, and other infrastructure operations teams.  
• Research, Design, implement, and automate On-Premises and Cloud databases systems (physical, virtual and logical) to ensure failover and monitor capabilities are in place for high availability including meeting applicationsystem disaster recovery SLA and SLO of database resources. Develops and enforces standards and guidelines to optimize the management, documentation, access, usage, migration, consolidation and safeguarding of Company data. 

Project Execution and Delivery:

• Providing mentorship, cross-training, and guide other infrastructure team members on Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) transformation, infrastructure and application stack, peer review of codes and infrastructure/database/application technical system and automation design related to Data Services and standards and drive wider adoption of Database-as-a-Service and IaC enterprise IT automation culture across Kontoor

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Infrastructure and Database Platforms Administration, Software Development/Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred.

12 + Years of progressive experience in supporting Database technologies like Microsoft SQL Servers (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022), Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos, Dataverse, Snowflake, SQL Analytical Services, SQL Reporting Services, SQL Containers, SQL Containers on Kubernetes/OpenShift, Azure PaaS Databases (SQL, Cosmos, SQL Analytics), SQL Server Failover Cluster Interface (FCI), SQL AAG, SQL Stretch Clusters, SQL Replications (Transactions, Merge, Snapshot), SQL Mirroring, SQL Log Shipping, HADR, SQL Backups and Maintenance tasks, Oracle RMAN, Oracle Datapump, SQL Database Refresh, SQL Migrations, SQL Upgrade and Patching, MS Access Database, SQL Server Performance Tuning, TSQL Query tuning, SQL Stored Procedures, SQL Monitoring tools like Foglight, SQL profiler, Query Monitor, Azure Insights and Dynatrace. Certified in Database technologies is preferred. Advance level knowledge of networking, OSI model, TCP/IP, routers, load balancers and XML gateway devices, including IPv4, IPv6, SFTP, SSH, PKI, TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, SSL, TLS, HTTPS, etc Linux (RHEL, SUSE, others), SOAP, POSTMAN, REST, Microsoft Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, Office 365, Exchange online, SharePoint, PowerApps, PowerBI, and all forms of Active Directory and DNS services. Apache Camel or Bash to automate routine tasks, data processing, AI Machine Learning, and system integration across multi-cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS) both public and private.
