PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Senior Systems Engineer II will be responsible for developing moderate to high complex system level requirements, designs and verification plans for assigned programs. This will involve working cross-functionally with engineering, program management, operations and other functional groups throughout all phases of projects. This individual will be the systems engineering focal for the entire life cycle of the project/program as assigned by the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Capture and manage requirements, analyze, document, and conduct verification/validation testing for systems, products, or sub-systems of moderate to high complexity and contribute to system integration.
  • Understand, utilize, and improve internal processes and tools for the development of new systems.
  • Support the development of Milestone documentation and lead the development of the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Program Protection Plan (PPP), Systems Specification, Performance Work Statement (PWS) and/or Statement of Work (SoW), and Source Selection Plan (SSP)
  • Support the development of Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Products, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and Capability Development Documents (CDD)
  • Acts as a mentor to more junior engineers in additional areas including project planning and execution.
  • Generate engineering estimates on complex system designs.
  • Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual contributor working under the direction of senior leadership.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other associates and subcontractor engineering firms in cross functional teams to achieve goals
  • Adaptable to changes in assignments and responsibilities.
  • Develop new and review existing 3d Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models utilizing industry standard tools such as Cameo to ensure digitally traceable interrelationships between data and information grounded in an Authoritative Source of Truth (ASoT) concept.
  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks and support efforts spanning a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in presenting to end-user customers and clients in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience in creating safety documents (Functional Hazard Analysis, System Safety Assessment, and System Safety Hazard Analysis) is desired.
  • Experienced in performing reliability engineering functions, such as creating Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), conducting Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) analyses, perform Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) analysis, identifying / mitigating obsolescence issues, and creating Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) plans.
  • Proficient in Digital Engineering practices and principles.
  • Experienced in all aspects of MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria, ADS-51- HDBK Rotorcraft and Aircraft Qualification Handbook, and MIL-STD-882 System Safety, as well as civil standards such as ARP-4754A and ARP-4761.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Cameo, Catia, DOORS, Jama, Subversion, SOLIDWORKS PDM, and Microsoft Office Suite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer or Systems Engineering from an accredited institution and a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or seven (7) years of relevant experience with a master's degree in a STEM related field.
  • Previous experience with military or civil fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening
