Senior System Engineer(Windows and Linux)

Nielsen is currently seeking a skilled Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in both Windows and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive understanding of system engineering principles, coupled with proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), experience with monitoring tools such as Logic Monitor, ability to work with international teams, offshore work exposure, strong background in automation, ability to accomodate a flexible working schedule. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our cross-platform infrastructure, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Windows and Linux Systems Management:
• Administer and maintain both Windows and Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. 
• Configure and optimize operating systems to meet business requirements. 
• Architect and design standards and best practices 
• Partner with Security, Legal, Privacy, other Infrastructure teams to maintain integrity and security of all devices

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): 

• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform/Chef. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and automated infrastructure. 

Monitoring and Performance Management:

• Utilize monitoring tools like Logic Monitor, to ensure the health and performance of systems. 
• Proactively identify and address potential issues, optimizing system performance. 

Offshore Work:

• Work collaboratively with offshore teams, providing support and expertise in Windows and Linux environments.
• Effectively communicate and coordinate tasks across different time zones and locations.

Automation: 

• Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.) to streamline routine tasks and enhance operational efficiency
• Identify and implement automation opportunities across various components of the infrastructure. 

Qualifications:

• Professional Experience: 
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer with proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive experience in Windows Server and Linux administration and configuration.
• Proven ability to implement code for infrastructure
• Familiarity with monitoring tools. 
• Advanced scripting skills with expertise in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages. 

Offshore Experience: 

• Proven experience collaborating with offshore teams.

Automation: 

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement automation solutions.

Personal Attributes:

• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in a global and remote team environment.
