We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented System Analyst and Requirements Writer to join our innovative team in the Innovation department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of system design and software development processes. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between payload operations, software development, and vendor interactions, ensuring smooth integration and efficient software development cycles.

1. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
   • Collaboratively work with payload operations engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to gather and understand detailed requirements.
   • Conduct interviews, attend meetings, and review documentation to extract critical information impacting software requirements.
2. Documentation and Requirements Writing:
   • Synthesize gathered information to draft comprehensive software requirements documents, including ConOps, user stories, system overview, data models, API specifications, state machines, and transaction diagrams.
   • Create and maintain clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
3. Data Modeling and API Specification:
   • Design and populate application data models in JSON and XML formats.
   • Understand and specify API interactions, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and system capabilities.
   • Test API interactions using Postman to validate functionality and adherence to specifications.
4. Software Design and Development Support:
   • Support the full software development life cycle, adhering to MVC design patterns and best practices.
   • Contribute to both backend (SQL and NoSQL databases) and frontend (Web GUI design) development as required.
   • Utilize scripting languages such as Matlab and/or Python for data analysis, automation, or other relevant tasks.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work closely with vendors to clarify uncertainties, validate documentation, and ensure a clear understanding of software interfaces and functions.
   • Facilitate requirements review sessions and hand over well-defined requirements to the development team.
   • Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment on requirements and expectations.
6. Quality Assurance and Testing:
   • Participate in testing phases, ensuring that the software meets the defined requirements and operates as intended.
   • Utilize your understanding of databases and data modeling to ensure data integrity and consistency.

You should definitely have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience doing system analysis and writing requirements.
• Proven experience as a System Analyst or in a similar role involving requirements gathering, documentation, and software design.
• Strong understanding of API specifications, data models, MVC design pattern, and software development life cycle.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Matlab and/or Python.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Web GUI design and full stack development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
• This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).
