Senior Systems Engineer

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with experience in electro-optics and lasers to join our Southwest Division's Directed Energy team in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate will be capable of applying Systems Engineering methodologies to the design, fabrication and testing of advanced electro-optical systems. Engineer capable of design, fabrication and testing of advanced electro-optical systems. Experience in lasers, optics and electronics. Team member capable of developing new ideas and implementing existing designs. This position will include a mix of analysis, design, ordering parts, integrating elements and testing both in the lab and field environment. Desire to work on directed energy weapon systems/technologies. Capable of technical coordination and working with a team. Identifies, defines and recommends solutions to the most complex technical problems based. Through the careful review of reports, patents, literature and other data, maintains an up-to-date comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the technical field as it pertains to the scope of responsibility. Can write articles and present papers for professional societies covering the broad phases of the assignment. Supports new proposal development to grow the business area.

As a Senior Systems Engineer with ARA you will:

• Work with electro-optics, laser (high and low power), optics, sensors and pointing
• Integration and testing of laser system design
• High Energy Laser (HEL) systems and directed energy weapons (DEW)
• Work with the defense industry and military customers

Senior Weapon Systems Engineer Requirements:

• US citizen with an active DoD Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
• BS in Electrical Engineering minimum, in EE, Physics or related field
• Strong system engineering hardware background
• Able to lead teams, programs and business areas
• Team player with excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to understand and solve complex problems
• Interest in learning new engineering tools and understanding of all fields of engineering

Senior Systems Engineer (MBSE) Preferences:

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
• Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance
• Experience working with DoD cloud-based tools
• Understanding of DoD acquisitions processes

Compensation:

• Anticipated salary range: $90,000 - $150,000. Offer may vary depending on experience and skillset.
