Senior Systems Engineer

Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. The Systems Engineering group includes cross-functional team members spanning a number of design and engineering disciplines. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will contribute to system definition, design, integration, testing, and medical device design controls.

As a key member of our team of mission-driven and kind individuals with diverse experience, you’ll help lead Vicarious into its next phase of innovation by contributing to defining high-level functional and logical architecture, low-level design constraints and consideration, and leading efforts with cross functional teams to assess risk, review designs, and align on appropriate testing strategies.

This role would be particularly well suited for applicants who have experience with complex software architectures, have developed software directly on medical devices, and/or have systems experience on medical devices with significant software considerations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and initiatives to test concepts, develop prototypes, answer key questions, and close knowledge gaps
• Interface with key stakeholders, including Marketing and Surgeons, to translate evolving market needs to refined subsystem and software-level requirements
• Drive collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical representatives to satisfy each department’s needs from Engineering and to achieve common goals
• Lead risk-management activities for specific subsystems and develop software-focused design controls including architectures and detailed design documents
• Collaborate with Core Teams and Project Management to meet strategic goals and deliverables

About You

• Minimum of a B.S. in an engineering discipline (Systems, Computer Science, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, etc)
• 4+ years of experience working in systems engineering spanning multiple phases of the product life-cycle for a complex electromechanical medical device or similar (robotic, preferred)
• Broad experience/knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, with deep understanding of developing software under design controls
• Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering results on complex projects
• Strong verbal and written communication skills - able to precisely articulate complex technical concepts and generate persuasive and comprehensive presentations
• Personable team player - able to work directly with individuals with varying skills and experiences
• Highly organized and independent - able to plan and execute tasks with little oversight
