Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: 8017 Breen Road, Houston, TX 77064

Duties : Senior Systems Engineer needed by National Oilwell Varco L.P. in Houston, Texas to develop electrical and electrical subsystems in Electric Line Logging systems, including the design of electrical diagrams and component selections, electronical design, validation and testing, and printed board design and production preparation. Maintain legacy systems and provide client support where needed for Artex products. Visit customer on-site. Provide PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) support and programming support for the ASEP line of NOV's wireline trucks. Develop of applications based on client logging system requirements using wide variation of software tools like C#, C++, Java-script, Python and PLC languages. Maintain three lines of PLC systems including PLC-direct, Danfoss and IFM and develop intra-project library functionality. Microcontroller programming in C is also a required skill. Produce automation system solutions and associated documents including operation manuals, technical specifications, test reports, and release notes and ensure they are completed within the required timescales. Perform project work in addition to Automation System Design, including all aspects of the design process, including design and testing of products, as well as other organizational tasks as deemed appropriate to ensure timely progress of projects being worked on. Evaluate new strategies, technologies, or evaluations of cost and benefits for new equipment or solution. Develop and design electric and electronic subsystems of logging equipment for skid units and trucks, including electrical schematics, electronic schematics, lay-out for printed circuit boards, including selection and programming of microcontrollers. Act as specialist on regulations concerning Radio Transmissions. System validation and test-procedure development both in the field as in the workshop and laboratory. Develop and design software for logging equipment for skid units and trucks. Utilize software for touch-screen data acquisition equipment, wire-monitoring equipment, camera loggers and wireless battery-powered devices for use in remote locations. Provide support for legacy systems and software. Support Production and Sales team on Automation Product Enquiries. Global support on Engineering tasks regarding actual Artex Portfolio such as Intercoms, Shooting Panels, Radio Frequency Stray Panels, PLC-Direct control systems and Downhole Logging Tools.

Minimum requirements : Requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering Technology or Computer Science, and 4 years of experience in the job offered, or 4 years of experience in a related occupation developing electrical and electrical subsystems in Electric Line Logging systems, including the design of electrical diagrams and component selections, electronical design, validation and testing, and printed board design and production preparation; developing of applications based on client logging system requirements using wide variation of software tools like C#, C++, Java-script, Python and PLC languages; maintaining three lines of PLC systems including PLC-direct, Danfoss and IFM and develop intra-project library functionality; and utilizing software for touch-screen data acquisition equipment, wire-monitoring equipment, camera loggers and battery-powered devices for use in remote locations.

In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, the employer will accept an additional 2 years of experience in a related occupation developing electrical and electrical subsystems in Electric Line Logging systems, including the design of electrical diagrams and component selections, electronical design, validation and testing, and printed board design and production preparation; developing of applications based on client logging system requirements using wide variation of software tools like C#, C++, Java-script, Python and PLC languages; maintaining three lines of PLC systems including PLC-direct, Danfoss and IFM and develop intra-project library functionality; and utilizing software for touch-screen data acquisition equipment, wire-monitoring equipment, camera loggers and battery-powered devices for use in remote locations.
