Position Summary

Avantax is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of IT systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Providing hands-on Infrastructure support for Panorama, Palo Alto Firewalls, Windows Server, VMWare, Active Directory, and AWS IaaS.
• Recommending networking and systems software and hardware enhancements.
• Designing, building, configuring, and troubleshooting networks, on-site & cloud-based systems.
• Diagnosing and correcting network and system issues in onsite and cloud environments.
• Providing hands-on System Administration support, system maintenance, and operation support.
• Building, configuring, and troubleshooting application deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
• Diagnosing and correcting computer system issues through customer and group collaboration.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Education & Experience

• At least 7+ years of infrastructure, systems, and/or network experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or another technology-related field.
• Highly self-motivated and directed in both operationally chaotic environments and slow times.
• Good understanding of an overall IT organization's goals and objectives.
• Expert with scripting and programming languages.

• Sitting for an extended period.
• Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
• The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.
