Meet the team:
The team that you will be joining is the Systems Engineering team, which is part of the hardware and firmware team for the L3 compute module. This team is in charge of the systems architecture of the compute hardware and platform firmware that will be used in Ford’s next generation driver assistance systems.
What you’ll do:Â
- Use a systems-level, data-driven approach to guide the multi-disciplinary engineering teams to achieve the right design that is compatible with the product needs and program rollout schedule at an acceptable level of technical risk
- Develop architectures, requirements and execution plans for the systems assigned
- Define use cases for the platform and platform functions to assist in the implementation of the specified systemÂ
- Author and maintain system architectural designs and documents
- Lead and perform system level Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) development and reviews
- Partner with Hardware and Software teams to create meaningful and implementable requirements
- Develop Hardware-Software Interface Specifications (HSIS)
- Follow and improve our processes, to ensure tight cross-functional coordination and quality work products are delivered
- Actively identify gaps in process, design, requirements, or people relationships that affect successful product delivery
- Cultivate and maintain a healthy, diverse work culture and environment with a strong emphasis on safety
- Work to foster and encourage strong collaboration and cross-functional working relationships between teams
What you'll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or PhD)
- Experience in design, implementation and testing of hardware or software for complex high performance systems for commercial products
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities to work with cross-functional engineering teams and drive decisions
- Expertise with formal systems engineering analysis methods ( i.e. FMEAs, Hazard Analysis)
- Interest in platform-focused design: power architecture, power sequencing, network architecture, time syncing, thermal management, resource sharing and arbitration, etc.Â
- Ability to balance schedule, power, cost, and technical debt when making decisions for a product-intent system
- Experience writing quality systems architecture and design documents
- Proven track record of delivering high priority assignments efficiently, and on time
- Experience in a professional work environment where safety, honesty, procedure and/or hardware/software testing are emphasizedÂ
- Strong desire to learn new skills related to technology, hardware and software
- Detail oriented mindset with a focus on safety and procedure
- Ability to work cross functionally and independently with minimal supervision
Nice to have:Â
- Previous experience in embedded hardware or software, or as a systems engineer working on robotic systems, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or large-scale computing and data systems
- 8+ years of related work experience
- Familiarity with one or more of the following standards: ISO 26262, ISO 21448, or ISO 21434Â
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering tools (ex: MagicDraw)
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (ex: Jama)
- Experience with automotive or autonomous vehicle systems product development lifecycle - architecture, design, implementation, testing, production, etc.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $152,320 - $209,440 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude’s annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
Candidates for positions with Latitude AI must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is available for this position.
