Senior Systems Engineer - (HPC/Linux)

SUMMARY

In this role, the Senior Systems Engineer - (HPC/Linux) will be responsible for architecting, maintaining, and improving the high-performance computing (HPC) environment at Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI), specifically in a CentOS/RHEL environment. This individual will work closely with the Linux Infrastructure team to implement new projects and upgrades, with a focus on automation to increase efficiencies and consistency. The Senior Systems Engineer - (HPC/Linux) will be expected to operate at a senior level and own the HPC environment, including the ability to clearly present and communicate challenges, opportunities, and projects for their area of responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain the architecture of the HPC environment, including hardware and software components
• Maintain and improve the HPC cluster, including installing and configuring new hardware and software as needed
• Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration control of HPC servers and applications
• Ensure compliance with NIST and Linux STIGs, including implementing and maintaining SELinux policies
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the HPC cluster and its component systems
• Automate tasks through scripting technologies
• Collaborate with the Linux Infrastructure team to identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent years of experience, plus 5 years of professional experience
• Expert knowledge of Linux systems, with a focus on CentOS/RHEL
• Strong experience with HPC environments, including job scheduling and resource management
• Experience with SSSD and Active Directory integration
• Expertise in SELinux policies and implementation
• Familiarity with ZFS and Btrfs file systems
• Ability to clearly communicate and present challenges, opportunities, and projects related to the HPC environment
• Able to document work performed for cross pollination and repeatability
• Able to present and plan projects, problems, and challenges for the area of responsibility.
• Ability to execute projects based upon charter and requirements
• Motivated and energetic team player
• Must be able to work on-site in Exton, PA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Active TS/SCI Security clearance

• Experience with containerization technologies such as LXC, Docker, and containers
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible and AWX
• Familiarity with Git version control system
• Experience with Networking (Firewalls, Switches, Routers)
