Senior Systems Engineer, Platform Engineering

Join our team to pioneer the creation of a cutting-edge platform that forms the backbone of Zoox’s entire IT infrastructure. You'll be instrumental in crafting the foundation upon which our systems operate, handling vast volumes of data and executing compute-intensive tasks across CPUs and GPUs. Your expertise will drive the development of innovative processes and tooling, empowering Zoox to seamlessly scale specialized workloads both on-premises and in the cloud, essential for powering our self-driving vehicle service into the future.

In this role, you will:

• Building and maintaining Zoox's IT infrastructure platform
• Be heavily involved in all phases of rolling out services and designing systems that are robust and easy to maintain and operate
• Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents

Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience 
• Experience with automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and SDLC using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Salt, Git
• Ability to lead configuration and maintenance of Linux/ Unix applications, familiarity with web servers, load balancers, storage systems, databases, DNS, monitoring & alerting and metrics tools
• Proficiency coding in Python

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, ECS, and Kubernetes
• Exposure to HashiCorp products such as terraform, vault, nomad, consul etc
• Familiar with TCP/IP network fundamentals
• Competence with virtualization technologies & tools such as KVM, Docker, or LXC

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: pay, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The pay range for this position is $179,000 to $226,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The pay range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
