Senior Systems Integration Engineer

The Senior Systems Integration Engineer applies core engineering principles to advance the understanding behavior of the system and its components. These contributions will result in the integration of components into a system that meets expected performance characteristics. This position will work cross-functionally with R&D Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Core Technology).
Responsibilities:
- Perform early hands-on characterization of components and interfacing systems as well as present analytical findings to inform data driven design decisions.
- Work closely with other systems and development engineers to ensure system level and sub-system level requirements are appropriately defined and testable as written.
- Conduct systems level prototyping, modelling, and simulations to drive effective architectural decisions. Perform tradeoff analysis and propose potential implementations.
- Establish product integration and testing approaches that ensure product performance requirements are properly evaluated.
- Design, develop, and qualify original testing software, methods and fixtures for in-house/internal product performance testing.
- Generate integration test protocols with clear acceptance criteria, test steps and methodology.
- Manage and document test article configuration history through integration and pre-verification efforts.
- Lead and participate in execution of integration activities in partnership with software, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Capture test results, observations and deviations per good documentation practices.
- Setup and operate lab equipment for control and measurement of product performance, including use of sensors, mass flow controllers, pumps, gas concentration monitors and oscilloscopes.
- Support the verification team in test execution and documentation, aid in the interpretation and analysis of test data.
- Support definition and implementation of manufacturing tools including component and system calibration, as well as product acceptance.
- Identify, describe and address product defects as well as participate in defect management effort.
- Conduct root cause investigations with minimal supervision.
- Train to internal lab safety methods, including safe set-up and operation of pressurized air and gas sources and gas exhaust evacuation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in product development, manufacturing or quality environment where testing and verification of medical devices are a primary function
- Experience with scripting/programming languages and/or modeling tools (Python or equivalent)
- Experience working on complex electro-mechanical and pneumatic assemblies preferred
- Expertise in the use of measurement instrumentation with data logging interfaces
- Self-starter, ability to solve problems independently
- Ability to properly document verification activities in a regulated environment
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Experience with analytical and statistical tools such as Minitab, Pandas, R, etc.
