Senior Systems Manager – NEW Job Description

The Senior Systems Manager is responsible for the overall system set up and daily management of all learning technologies to ensure an efficient and effective delivery of content to learners. This is a people manager role which will oversee several team members dedicated to the learning management tool and enablement.  In partnership with the key internal stakeholders, the Senior Manager will develop tactics to execute the enterprise learning strategy from a system management, delivery, and reporting perspective. This includes course set-up and maintenance based on requirements, maintenance of permissions/roles, serving as a technical consultant to content owners, mapping organizational learning needs to system functionality, and building custom reports based on organizational needs aligned to the governance guidelines for each technology tool. This also includes scheduling and communicating system maintenance and upgrades, resolution of technical issues, and working closely with vendor partners. The position will identify, research, track, and ensure timely resolution or appropriate escalation of technical issues. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Run the team of people and contractors working within the Learning Management System, other tools and on the help desk.
  • Demonstrate a positive customer service orientation with employees, partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Assess business needs within the organizational structure, configure systems, and develop best practices that are adapted to the organizations specific needs.
  • Build, test and validate assignments, content, audiences, and security permissions.
  • Utilizes project management to ensure successful development/implementation of course tools
  • Act as a consultant, providing best practice insight into all learning tool functionality including creating events, sessions, curricula, evaluations, email notifications, custom reports, standard reports, and uploading content (e-learning modules, materials, videos).
  • Act as Tier 2 support for technical issues experienced by internal clients across all our tools to provide coverage for other team members.
  • Monitor usage and adoption through reports.
  • Assist with training sessions for learning technology administrators throughout the organization.
  • Take initiative to stay current on latest products, system releases, processes, and industry trends.
  • Obtain and monitor key metrics across all tools to guide leaders toward opportunities to increase activity, expand certifications, and improve the learner experience
  • Manage the vendor relationships including management of help desk contractors.

 

Required Qualifications/Skillsets:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR in lieu of degree, 9 years of relevant experience required
  • Strong Excel - experience with Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc
  • Experience working with learning technology (Moodle, Totara, Learning Pool LMS, Brainshark, Highspot preferred)
  • Ability to support and engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Comfortable working with business stakeholders
  • Ability to problem-solve creatively and utilize strong analytical skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a complex and changing environment independently and within a team; self-motivated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
