What you’ll do:

• Manage the outsourced U.S. federal and state tax compliance process with external tax advisors by preparing supporting workpapers and documentation, taking ownership of information requests, and ensuring the organization meets statutory deadlines
• Prepare and file, as needed, U.S. federal and state quarterly estimates
• Prepare and file local indirect tax returns such as Illinois Use Tax & Chicago Lease Tax
• Prepare annual tax provisions and supporting documentation in accordance with ASC 740
• Maintain organization’s tax records and files
• Research and apply U.S. tax laws and regulations to support the organization’s tax return positions, audit defense, tax planning, etc.
• Assist with the coordination and communication with various tax authorities in connection with audits, notices of assessment, and information requests
• Assist with various tax consulting projects
• Identify and develop strategies to achieve continuous improvement with respect to efficiency and quality within the tax function
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments such as Accounting, Legal, Procurement, etc.

Required experience or skills:

• 2-4 years of experience in public accounting or financial services
• Corporate and partnership federal and state income tax compliance experience
• US GAAP and ASC 740 experience
• Familiarity with indirect taxes
• Familiarity with various tax credits and benefits such as R&D, international FDII & Illinois EDGE
• Desire to work in a team environment, proactive and self-motivated
• Strong analytical, technical, written, and oral communications skills
