Senior Technical Analyst
Job Description
Cox Communications is searching for a Senior Technical Analyst. This position resides within the Strategic Planning and Logistics team of the Outside Plant (OSP) Department. It supports various partners by performing the analysis for all hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) and fiber networks deployed and maintained by Cox. Activities of interest span multiple programs including Network Transformation Phase 2 (NT2.0), Residential New Builds (Greenfield), Rural Broadband (RBB), Market Expansion (MET), and various other programs.
To properly perform the expected tasks, this position requires good understanding of the technologies and architectures supported by the OSP network, among which: DOCSIS 3.1, remote PHY devices (RPD), Fiber-To-The-Home infrastructure (FTTH), analog and digital node splits (NX/DNX), mid-split (MS), high-split (HS), ultra-high split (UHS), node plus zero (N+0), segmentation, and more.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Capacity to create various node selection scenarios and to develop and maintain various OSP models including material forecasts, resource forecasts, cost models, etc.
- Produces statistical reports and summarizes them in PowerPoint presentations.
- Performs various analyses including comparative, total cost of ownership, RFP cost impact, cross-over point, regrettable spending, actuals vs. forecasts (variance), case study, and other analyses as instructed.
- Maintains the approved NT2.0 plan and OSP update intentions.
- Communicates technical and business aspects of work efforts between team members.
- Engages and participates in projects/applications requirement sessions to ensure proper technical requirements are clearly documented and managed. Understands applications and systems and provides development input to architects/engineers during the analysis phase.
- Provides field with time and resource estimates for technical requirements.
- Works with field to ensure all requirements are addressed in plan selection. Interfaces with field to confirm the applicability of alternatives, identifies and recommends cost effective options, and addresses teams' concerns.
- Collaborates with cross functional teams to understand business priorities and maintains the OSP roadmaps that can be translated into technical requirements for deployment.
- Develops measurements and reports on key metrics.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field
- Experience working in a large data environment doing SQL, Power BI and Excel development
- Experience managing data requirements/development projects with a close attention to detail and high-quality performance
- Conducts business impact analyses and validation studies and market research through all stages: concept formulation, definition of metrics, determination of appropriate statistical methodology, research evaluation, and final research report
- Develops analytical tools and numerical modeling of complex operations systems and processes. Must be able to clearly and accurately present information to executive management team and provide practical recommendations for the leadership team.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Cox Construction initiatives, objectives, and job types
- Experience in presenting budgets, schedules and other areas associated with project and program management.
- Willingness to mentor others in development of skills to aid them in succeeding in management of large-scale communications projects.
