The Business Intelligence/Data Engineering Senior Technical Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and translating business requirements into actionable data solutions as a part of our software development life cycle. This role also assists the product team in researching and experimenting with new data-driven business requirements.
What you'll do
- Analysis
- Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders, translating these into data solution specifications.
- Perform data system research to substantiate business need, including data warehouse and database analysis to aid in requirements definitions.
- Design
- Collaborate with the Product team, Project Manager, and/or Data Architect to define data enhancement scopes and objectives.
- Develop concept documents and data specifications for all enhancements, including detailed documentation and workflow of the data systems and business requirements.
- Work with the data engineering and quality assurance teams to develop technical specifications from the data functional specifications and defined solution.
- Participate in the design of data solutions to ensure they align with the concept documentation.
- Communication and Training
- Act as a liaison between product managers and the data engineering team, providing clarity on requirements as necessary.
- Responsible for documenting detailed technical data development requirements as Epics & Tickets/Subtasks using JIRA.
- Assist in developing User Documentation and UI Help Screens to accompany data projects.
What you'll bring
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in an associated field of studies such as Computer Science, Data Science or Business Intelligence or equivalent experience
- 3 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst in a Business Intelligence/Data Engineering environment
- Prior experience in healthcare or healthcare insurance industry preferred
- Special Skills & Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation.
- Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills; ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate complex data concepts to non-technical users.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Decisiveness, and assertiveness, with a results-oriented mindset focused on achieving business results.
- Adaptable and flexible, able to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Ability to handle and protect confidential material.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), especially Excel for data analysis.
- Experience with development project tracking software (i.e., JIRA).
- Understanding of data warehouse design, data modeling, and how tables are joined.
- Proficiency in SQL and/or other data query languages is highly desirable
