WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Product Brief is the first spark of a product idea sets the Footwear Product Creation team into motion. The team of footwear developers, testers, engineers and designers collectively strive for product excellence in every way. They obsess over smallest of details, while collaborating, ideating and refining product construction, performance, fit and style. They use groundbreaking advancements in technology, sustainable design and materials to accelerate innovation. And they work lockstep with Marketing, Design, Materials, Testing, and Manufacturing to produce products that reflect the soul of Nike Basketball, that inspire and ultimately enable our athletes to reach all new levels of performance.

As a member of NIKE Basketball Footwear Development team, you will inform, drive and facilitate decisions throughout the product creation process to meet or exceed the design vision, athlete performance and product excellence. You will be an active thought partner with Design, Product Management, Engineering, Materials, and Factory Product Creation Teams to develop processes and tools that push boundaries and create solutions that support the creation of Nike Basketball's innovative footwear products.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

We are seeking a Senior Footwear Developer, who will drive and lead our end to end (E2E) product creation process, including sampling and prototyping across geographies. You will be passionate about achieving the ultimate goal of timely manufacturability of quality and crafted, tested and validated, sustainable and efficient products, that meet or exceed our performance criteria and design intent. You will apply your expert level of footwear technical knowledge to drive Product Creation Teams through 3D Prototyping, Bottom Tooling, Upper Patterns, Mold Design, Chemical, Materials, Costing, and Manufacturing to achieve project objectives in an efficient, effective, sustainable, and timely way.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As a member of the Basketball Footwear Team, you will work collaboratively with key functional partners throughout the Product Development process. This includes Footwear Engineering, Footwear Product Testing, Footwear Material Design and Material Development, Product Design, Product Management, Product Merchandising, Sourcing and Operations, and our overseas partners - both within NIKE and external to NIKE. You will work with the Footwear Tech Development Director in Kids.

You will need to navigate the Nike matrix to ensure that our processes model and match NIKE Footwear Development standard methodologies for product excellence. You are the key point of contact for our overseas partners and ensure that communication during the product development process is clear and accurate.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Industrial Design, Engineering, Physical Sciences or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training
• Minimum of 8+ years directly applicable Footwear Development or Engineering work experience within multiple categories.
• Demonstrated Critical Experiences in Adopting and Driving NXT Innovation through the INLINE Product Creation Process.
• Demonstrated Critical Experiences in Driving Product Initiatives and/or Strategy across the greater Footwear Dimensions and/or Divisions.
• Exceptional High-profile communication and influencing skills, with the ability to champion sophisticated projects both multi-functionally and vertically with the organization, including senior leaders.
• Have a proven track record for talent and team development, including coaching and mentoring in footwear construction, product creation process, best practices, and policies.
• Have a strong working knowledge of the tools supporting and tactically driving the footwear product creation process, best using subject matter experts in footwear lasts, upper patterns, materials, chemistry, bottom tooling, costing, test methodologies, and manufacturing.
• A highly organized and resilient mentality, a high tolerance for ambiguity, with an exceptional ability to seamlessly balance ever-changing competing priorities.
• A Proven Leadership Identity that cultivates partnership, instills trust, inspires and empowers teammates/peers to ultimately deliver on product excellence.
• Strong End-To-End Understanding of the creation process, including production planning, forecasting and scheduling to deliver product quality in a timely, efficient, and effective way.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen awareness of the audience, knowing when to go deep into the details when warranted, and when to simplify the complex.
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
