POSITION SUMMARY:

The criticality of the retail industry has never been more clear. It is ripe with opportunities for innovation and disruption to change the shopping experience. Point of sale is the heart of a Retailer's IT landscape, as everything else integrates into it. NCR Retail has the market leading position in point of sale (POS), and is investing heavily in maintaining that position in the next generation POS landscape. As we continue building our next generation POS, we need to consolidate our strategic next generation worldwide platform, including simplifying the delivery, upgrade, and monitoring experience of edge services.

Identify and quantify market opportunities to for innovative products and capabilities that will be used by the candidate, and the candidate's family & friends, in everyday interactions with your favorite grocery, drug, convenience & fuel, and department/specialty retail outlets.

Operate in an Agile environment based on Design Thinking, which focuses on progress vs. perfection, and iteration vs analysis paralysis

Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility

• Support the development of the product strategy for sustainable differentiation, including validating market opportunities for growth.
• Identify and articulate market requirements that define the product's features set in line with product strategy, including writing product requirements.

• Manage and deliver product roadmaps including the coordination of cross-product and cross-functional dependencies.
• Collaborate with Engineering & Design to balance vision with practicality.
• Apply modern architectural trends to NCR Retail product roadmaps for competitive differentiation, improved customer ROI, and simplified user experience
• Synthesize & deliver technical product strategy for software infrastructure modernization including containerized service installation, upgrade, and monitoring.
• Translate technical architecture to business value & impact to customers' ROI

• Communicating technical product strategy concisely and simply, in both written & verbal forms, to engineering, product management, sales, marketing, and executives.
• Building and maintaining prioritized product backlog fed by:

• Product strategy
• Customer feedback & interviews
• User research (in partnership with User Experience Design)

• Competitive analysis

• Mentor less experienced product team members to help elevate NCR's overall approach.
• Recruit customers to act as "advisor users" to co-create innovative products.
• Educate sales team on messaging that works

Qualifications:

• 10+ years proven experience in a technical / software related role
• BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• Proven experience in a product management role
• You tend to find solutions, not problems

• Working understanding of modern concepts & trends in cloud computing, Docker/containers, kubernetes, REST API's, and microservices
• A great attitude; people like working with you
• Curiosity & thirst for learning, and ability to do it quickly
• Outside-in, data-backed orientation
• Strong interpersonal skills & ability to build strong, trusting relationships

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lead by influence across teams & siloes
• Familiarity with Agile framework

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as an IT / software architect, software engineering leader, or software technical sales
• Team leadership experience
• MBA
