Senior Technical Program Manager, Product Excellence
Job Description
Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.
The Mill Membership is our first impression to the world, and expectations are high. We told customers we’re going to make their lives more delightful - a big promise considering we’re dealing with one of the grossest things in people’s homes. We’ve promised that Oscar will be high-quality, quiet, intuitive, low maintenance, and not-at-all stinky. We’ve also promised to make it easy to do the best thing possible with Food Grounds by sending them back to us. There’s a ton riding on these promises.
This is our chance to change a 200 year old industry and to fundamentally change how we all behave in our own homes on our mission to eliminate waste for good. As we make our way into people’s homes, there are hundreds of things out of our control, and one thing that is totally within our control: product quality.
Responsibilities:Â
- Make proposals for and drive alignment on what Mill’s objectives and key results (OKRs) should be related to product quality.
- Identify, track, and quantify all product quality issues for the Mill Membership using all available data including but not limited to reliability and quality assurance testing and validation, field trials, customer support contacts, social media posts and comments, and online reviews. Â
- Facilitate determination of who will take ownership of and action on product quality issues to drive towards achieving product quality related OKRs.
- Provide clear and frequent technical updates to cross-functional teams and executive management on the top opportunities to improve product quality across elements of the Mill Membership and progress, plans, and risks towards achieving Mill’s OKRs.
- Assess risks with future products under development and partner with a variety of cross-functional design and engineering teams to create solutions that can mitigate those risks.Â
Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience managing cross-functional teams across various program stages
- Excellent team player whom is self motivated, proactive, and has a high attention to detail
- Technical background
- 2+ years working on complex hardware products
- Understands and works well in a rapidly evolving development program. Remains flexible, eager to learn, and works well in times of uncertainty.
- BS required, MS or MBA desired
The estimated base salary range for this position is $175k to $200k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
