Senior Technical Project Manager - Engineering (Remote)

The Senior Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering results for the Engineering department by supporting, coaching, and guiding cross-functional software engineering teams to deliver reliability, fault tolerance, and performance improvement in our SaaS products and services. You will rely heavily on your software engineering problem solving experience and background, but also lead risk and communication management, planning, and delivery activities. You will work closely with engineering and product leads to identify and eliminate external impediments to delivery. This role is a change agent - your technical background combined with your project management experience will allow you to coach teams to deliver maintainable, reliable, and performant software, not make them dependent on you navigating it all.
Responsibilities:
Help 2-3 project teams manage the software development lifecycle
o Guide teams through project planning, creating prioritized requirements and milestones including MVP, facilitating story mapping events, and conducting release planning.
o Drive teams towards defining "done" (success criteria) and tracking against that done (success criteria) state - at the project, feature, and sprint levels.
o Help teams identify and manage risks and dependencies.
o Identify and remove impediments to team productivity through collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
Acting as coach
o Facilitate recurring and ad-hoc meetings within development lifecycle (stand-up, planning, refinement, reporting, retrospectives).
o Guide teams on effective backlog management and best story writing practices.
o Teach teams to plan and estimate both project milestones and delivery cycles (sprints).
o Evangelize continuous improvement and transparency. Help teams define and track metrics to highlight bottlenecks, blocks or impediments to delivering value.
o Help teams become self-managing to deliver value on a consistent and frequent cadence.
Be a change agent
o Be able to lead people to solve complex software development problems to improve software reliability, fault tolerance, and performance.
o Be able to "talk the talk" - you've engineered software solutions in complex SaaS products with real-time constraints and you understand what it takes to design, build, implement, and test software.
o Be highly empathic and passionate about creating successful teams and high trust environments.
o Be experienced in doing this remotely, as our teams are globally distributed.
o Be driven towards automating repetitive tasks for project teams, project management and scrum domains.
Qualifications:
• 7+ years project management experience in agile environments• Software development experience building scalable SaaS cloud-based software products, ideally .NET, in continuous integration and deployment environments• 2+ years experience incorporating application performance monitoring into SaaS cloud-based software products with New Relic, Datadog, or App Dynamics to prevent client impacting issues, not just gather data• Track record of helping evolve project management practices in environments with a mix of legacy and modern applications• Experience leading geographically (globally) diverse teams through influence and best practices• Proven expertise in using remote collaboration tools for communication (synchronous and asynchronous), brainstorming and tracking status• Excellent communication skills with ability to relate with both technical and business professionals• Usage and experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Aha! or similar tool to plan and maintain agile workflows and work
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Azure cloud software development• Experience with New Relic to implement best practice APM• Experience with Harness.io (or similar) to drive CI/CD and code static analysis tools such as Sonar and Checkmarx• Experience developing secure code meeting security standards and willing to participate in financial systems security practices• Certifications (any of the below):
o PMI-ACP or PMP
o Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
o Professional Scrum Master (PSM)• Experience in FIN-TECH or compliance environments
