Senior Technical Writer

Reporting to the VP, Business Integration & Assurance, as GumGum’s Senior Technical Writer, you will leverage your exceptional technical writing skills by generating high-quality technical content and user documentation that enables GumGum to promote usability and consistency within our corporate policies and standards, across all product lines. You will be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with scientific staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions. Your ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is second to none, and you have a natural desire to help people understand things that are hard to understand.  

You will get an opportunity to learn the GumGum product suite and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization - including Product, Engineering, and Publisher Development - to curate, develop, publish, and maintain learning resources that eliminate friction with product adoption.

Note: GumGum currently operates in a ‘work from home’ virtual environment with sporadic opportunities for in-person business and morale events (health guidelines permitting). There will not be any requirement to go into the office on a daily basis moving forward. GumGum is only open to hiring remote candidates who are residents in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and MN, however prefers candidates located in the west coast.

What You'll Achieve

• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets GumGum’s organizational standards around our global compliance program, our IT & Security controls, and our compliance with accrediting agencies (i.e., MRC)
• Create and write various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or instructions
• Curate and map content based on the learning journey for various audience personas
• Create and maintain our internal and external Verity documentation and product updates, to include integration procedures, APIs, JSON, FAQs, and Description of Methodology required by MRC
• Work cross-collaboratively with product and engineers to ensure product documentation is technically accurate and aligns with documentation needs and priorities
• Obtain a deep understanding of GumGum’s products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content
• Distill complex, technical topics into user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success
• Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
• Identify opportunities for improvement and updates to existing templates, workflow, and forms

Skills You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Literature or similar, or equivalent relevant experience
• 6-8+ years experience (with 2+ years experience with Atlassian suite) 
• 2+ years of people-management experience 
• Proven track record of developing system and end-user documentation for new systems development
• Good understanding of version control systems and issue tracking tool
• Expert with Microsoft Office and Google suite required
• Additional related skills such as experience in graphic design, interactive design, and/or video tutorials
• Work experience in the digital advertising tech industry, preferred
• Experience participating in or leading regulatory or accreditation submissions 
• Portfolio of writing samples, presentations, and /or other items showing technical writing expertise
• Keen/scrupulous attention to detail while simultaneously managing the need for high quality work and meeting tight deadlines
• Strong project management skills. 
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Skills required to organize and synthesize large amounts of complex information from various sources, and work in a fast-paced setting
• Attention to detail but also the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture
• You strive to understand the "why" behind everything you do so that you can extend that knowledge and understanding to stakeholders
• Ability to work independently within a (remote) team environment 
• Ability to anticipate potential problems before they occur, and creatively come-up with solutions
• Exceptional judgment - ability to exercise business discretion and maintain a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
