Senior Technical Writer

Documentation at Couchbase is a crucial component of the product experience. As a technical writer,  you'll work with our global team to deliver documentation that helps our customers be successful. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions through frequent (monthly) releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers in database management software.

We’re seeking a Senior Technical Writer who understands Application Developers and is skilled at developing content for both beginners and advanced users. Responsibilities

• Write example-rich documentation, tutorials, reference content, and release notes for developers creating applications using Couchbase offerings. Write content from scratch.
• Take a hands-on approach to learning more about our portfolio. Walk in the customers’ shoes by using our software and ensuring that the documentation reflects best practices.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented for ongoing releases.
• Incorporate and test code samples to help developers get up and running quickly.
• Proactively engage with Support Engineers and other stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate frequently to keep the help content relevant and up-to-date
• Write clearly in American English, using a simple, conversational tone

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience as a technical writer or application developer.
• Experience writing in a docs-as-code workflow with Git and Asciidoc, Markdown, or similar
• Experience with databases and application  development as a developer or technical writer
• Experience with programming languages such as .NET, Go, Java, Kotlin, Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Scala, C, or C++ as a developer or technical writer
• Experience with Cloud/SaaS/complex distributed systems or cloud-native database infrastructure 
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Bachelor's degree in Tech/Computer Science, Technical Communication, or equivalent practical experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) testing for code or documentation is a plus
