Job Description

The role of the Senior Technical Writer is to develop documentation that informs and instructs users in the installation, operation and maintenance of Avidity Science products.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain and review technical documentation related to the operation, service, and startup of Avidity Science products for customers and Avidity Science technicians
  • Create well-structured documents through the use of step-by-step instructions, graphics, and troubleshooting information to clearly explain product function.
  • Interview subject matter experts and perform the necessary research to obtain the required information.
  • Develop and review installation verification documents that communicate to the customer the successful installation of Avidity Science equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance in the production and review of videos of equipment and processes to be used in documentation and training of Avidity Science personnel and customers.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions.
  • Develop and review customer-specific standard operating procedures (SOP's).
  • Create and publish all documentation following department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Update existing documentation using revision control.
  • Monitor technical writing process and suggest continual improvement actions.
  • Participate in problem solving teams in the resolution of quality, customer service, and installation issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing and business tools, including Microsoft Office.
  • In-depth industry knowledge and understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written business correspondence.
  • Ability to learn quickly and independently and grasp technical concepts and principles through research.
  • Ability to learn quickly and independently.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.
  • Ability to articulate and apply a customer value proposition for Avidity Science solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and facility drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to manage commitments.
  • Ability to translate technical product knowledge to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Have a high level of accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, style consistency in technical documentation produced.
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical, electrical, and software principles of operation.
  • Ability to produce high quality illustrations and pictures required for technical documentation and training.
  • Ability to plan, research and write documentation of varying complexity and size that are structured logically and methodically.
  • Professional level presentation skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skill.
  • Ability to work on projects with little or no direction

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication or Marketing Communication or related or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years technical writing experience, or a combination of both.
