Senior Technician, Network Operations
This position will be responsible for the proactive monitoring of Intelsat's global Data network incident ticket creation 1st level troubleshooting, break/fix and service restoral on Intelsat's Optical and IP/MPLS networks in a 24X7 Network Operations Center. This individual will also be responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience by providing professional communications to our customers (internal & external) throughout the Incident life cycle.

• Network monitoring- Major responsibility for this role is using NOI/Netcool to react to Network alarms for service interruptions proactively identify issues that can be resolved before outages occur with focus on Network availability/reliability
• Incident ticket creation- utilize ServiceNow to create incidents & case tickets on operational network and customer service issues to ensure accurate documentation is maintained and all follow-up actions are completed to assist in improved network reliability, availability and overall service performance
• Incident communications- Responsible for communicating status of incidents with customers via phone email and other possible alternate methods also responsible for internal notifications/Situational reports establishing Network bridges for severe degradations and outages.
• Incident resolution- This position requires advance technical abilities and networking skills to be able to troubleshoot services that traverse network routers & switches, optical transport nodes, as well as modems and various other RF devices that support ACUX managed services.
• Intermediate Knowledge to Layer 2 & Layer 3 VPN Protocols.
• Intermediate Knowledge of MPLS, LDP, RSVP & BGP Protocols.
• Experience with performing OTN, DWDM, SDH, SONET & Layer 2/3 Ethernet circuit test (RFC-2544 & Y.1564)
• Basic to Intermediate knowledge of RF technology is a plus.
• Troubleshoot circuits (Optical, DWDM, Ethernet) with service providers and fiber vendors to restore impacted core links & customer private line circuits types (IPL, ITSDC & ACUX)

You should definitely have:

• A minimum of 5 - 7 years practical experience and strong working knowledge as a Network Service/Telecommunications provider role directly interfacing with customers and working incidents to resolution preferably in an operations environment
• Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques particularly at Layers 1-4 of OSI model.
• Experience using Networking monitoring/Inventory tools (Netcool, NOI, SevOne, Net-Cracker, ServiceNow & Remedy)
• Experience with ARBOR - Threat Management Security for DDoS Mitigation.
• General understanding of satellite communication ground station equipment including modems converters HPA, LNA,IFL and antenna systems is highly desirable
• Knowledge and practical experience with Cisco IOS(-XR) and JunOS operating systems
• Strong work ethic desire to exceed self-starter and is team oriented.
• Ability to support network change activities
• Ability to multi-task in an environment that may become stressful at times
• This Role is subject to ITAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

It would be nice if you had:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience
• Juniper Networks Certification (JNCIS-SP) or equivalent experience
• NOKIA NRS-1, CIENA OC-A, MEF Certification a plus but not required.
• Experience working with Off-Net Circuit providers Optical/Ethernet/Transport
• Fundamental understanding of Pop/Teleport Patch-panels cross-connects different delivery methods (Fiber copper)
• Understanding of ITIL 4 Framework
• Experience in a Broadcast/Satellite environment
