WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The global telecom team is looking for someone who is able to adapt to change reducing technical debt and assets while balancing availability to intake new technologies and project ownership. We are looking for someone who is able to implement our leaderships vision and mission leading by example and ensuring our business partners needs are being met on a regular basis.
We are looking for someone who not only has an engineering background from a design and implementation standpoint but also one who has experience with daily operational support which may include evening and weekend after hours support for coverage and business continuity.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will be balancing both operational support ie: break fix as well as project work ranging from auditing inventory and PBX phone utilization reducing the footprint of our legacy systems such as Nortel and Avaya. In parallel, you should have familiarity with newer phone platforms such as Cisco, Vonage, and assist/own POC's.
In this capacity you will not only assist with transitioning from older systems by redeploying new builds and designs but also learning new technologies such as UCAAS telephony omnichannel cloud solutions working and evaluating new providers and translating them to business terminology enabling the business to advance.
Additional duties and responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
- Ensure all systems incorporate mechanisms and procedures to minimize downtime and losses, and optimize coverage in the event of disaster or emergencies with normal operations.
- Perform enhancements and upgrades and apply patches as necessary to maintain the most efficient and effective technical environment possible within their area.
- Review business requirements with users on a periodic basis in order to clarify issues and obtain user acceptance. Prepare and document detailed specifications.
- Develop alternatives and recommendations for proposed solutions for company business problems which are simple to moderately complex.
- Work concurrently on multiple projects. Maintain flexibility to perform multiple tasks effectively for all areas of specialization on a dynamic basis.
- Audit own performance and recommend own objectives and standards of performance.
- Maintain knowledge of and stay in sync with the IT department's standards, policies, and practices concerning quality assurance, data security, and disaster recovery.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours support as needed.
- Perform system maintenance on supported platforms. (i.e., backups, firmware upgrades, monitor alarms.
- Monitor system capacities and provide capacity planning recommendations.

WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- We are looking for someone who is pro-active, a self-starter, independent, but collaborative, and communicative.
- Strong knowledge of general telecommunications topics including but not limited to POTS, T-carrier (T1/E1), ISDN-PRI, TDM, VoIP, structured cabling, etc.
- Transition and project management experience
- Knowledge of and system administration experience with Avaya communication platforms including Communication Manager 6.x and above (including LSPs and ESS), Modular Messaging, Session Manager, AES, CMS, Interaction Center, Avaya softphone clients such as OneX Communicator)
- Knowledge of current state omni-channel cloud based telephony solutions
- Knowledge of Cisco Call Manager 11.5. Unity, and UCCX both on-prem and off-prem
- Strong vendor management and relationship building
- Engaging & initiating new and existing Monthly and Quarterly business reviews with vendors and internal customers
