What We Need:

Brady Corporation is seeking a Lead Systems R D Test Engineer who will support new product development (NPD), architecture, and sustaining projects for the Systems and Materials R D organizations. This position is responsible for the development and creation of design validation plans, and for creating test strategies and test plans which will ensure product requirements are met for Brady printer and material products. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for managing the testing lab and mentoring a team of engineering technicians for development and execution of the detailed product testing plans.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Create test plans to validate that NPD and sustaining engineering programs meet product requirements.
  • Develop test strategies to ensure quality, functionality and performance of printers and materials. Work hand-in-hand with R D, factory, and marketing teams to develop cost-effective test strategies and test plans to mitigate risks.
  • Work with out-source, OEM suppliers as needed to gain buy-in to test strategies and procedures, to enforce good processes at the suppliers, and to develop good teamwork and information sharing.
  • Lead the testing staff and work together with product teams as needed to resolve issues in an efficient manner to support product launch plans.
  • Apply industry standards for printer performance, reliability, and print quality testing. Follow emerging industry standards and represent the business as appropriate in standards activities.
  • Develop internal standards and test processes as required.
  • Understand measurement tools and techniques, and make recommendations for measurement equipment as needed.
  • Oversee management of printer test labs, equipment, and calibration schedules. Responsible for all duties needed to maintain test lab printers, PC's and software.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years experience with quality, reliability, and testing
  • Demonstrated capability to plan and prioritize multiple projects with varying time-frames and levels of importance
  • Ability to take complete ownership for all aspects of product testing
  • Ability to present complex data clearly with meaningful conclusions
  • Strong statistical toolset - such as design of experiments, data analysis, and reliability analysis
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and experience writing technical specifications
  • Experience in FMEA, MTBF calculation, failure analysis, reliability and life-time prediction models, design validation and design qualification


Desired Characteristics: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of printer industry standards, including ISO
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience in supporting design and developing activities
  • Experience in new product development quality and testing for electro-mechanical devices
