Our constantly evolving online worlds require a foundation of stable tools to streamline content creation. ArenaNet’s engineers take pride in writing quality, performant code that enables continuous releases within these massive worlds. ABOUT OUR TEAM

The Engineering team at ArenaNet thrives on a wide array of perspectives, experiences, and interests. We know that the best creations come from healthy and friendly teams. Our work is woven together with the efforts of multiple disciplines and crafts within game development. We seek out voices and ideas that might be new to us. We are always on the lookout for ways to help each other, both within the Engineering team, and throughout the studio.  We aspire to work collaboratively during our daily tasks; we find ourselves working informally across the studio that may include artists, designers and other engineers where we all work to contribute our unique perspective to the studio.

WHO YOU ARE

You’re a strong tools engineer with a track record of excellent customer service.  You are empathetic and respond to user experiences: When you are presented with a blocking issue, you are not shy about digging into end-user challenges. Your industry experience demonstrates a balanced approach toward a successful outcome You will begin talking with the end-user to discover the issue, then you’ll factor the tools, the usage pattern, and complex code dependencies to navigate a path toward a solution. You may have to isolate the issues to source code, or possibly talk with the user about their usage pattern.  You may have to develop a fix and champion the fix thru a code review to fulfill the user’s needs with a solution.

You have professional experience and are comfortable working with native C/C++ applications and potentially C# managed-code.  We work in the Visual Studio environment targeting complex Window applications. You may have experience or an interest in learning Python and shell-scripting. You are adept at debugging applications coded in the languages above.

We value your abilities whether they stem from personal projects or professional milestones. Please share with us experiences that demonstrates your existing technical and project skills, your ability to learn technical-skills, your approach to learning & reading new large source-code base, testing, debugging, and improving custom tools or plug-ins, especially if related to Maya, Granny3D, or similar 3rd party SDK related to computer graphics, models and 3D views, animations, shaders, UI frameworks (WPF) or audio.
