Basic Function

The Senior Trading Analyst has ownership and responsibility for middle and back office elements of trade lifecycle processing, as well as monitoring and analysis of risk exposures on an intraday and long-term basis. Will coordinate with FRM colleagues, Accounting, IT and others to investigate and resolve trade issues spanning the interrelationships between transaction economics, policy guidelines, and software functionality. Responsible for the timely execution (including verification) of trade confirmations and their associated records. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as main contact for derivatives dealers/traders regarding middle and back office commodity trading activity.
  • Manage Trade Management Systems including CXL Triplepoint.
  • Review, analyze, interpret and provide daily exposure reporting; identify and resolve issues.
  • Ensure all derivatives lifecycle events are correctly and consistently performed within existing trade capture systems and procedures including trade capture.
  • Manage confirmation process by coordinating execution of confirmations on behalf of the company once accurate, returning executed confirmations to counterparties, archiving records including executed confirmation, trade related e-mail and other explanatory documents, and responding to confirms in timely manner if inaccuracies identified.
  • Manage intercompany confirmations process including liaising with accounting and segment controlling, EMIR reporting.
  • Agree with counterparties on settlements, provide timely payment instructions to AP/AR and cash forecast information to Treasury Operations team, and assist Accounting team with monthly settlement reporting and mark to market. Partner with Accounting and Risk teams to research and resolve trading, risk other discrepancies resulting from lifecycle events and processes.
  • Calculate daily gain/loss and mark to market on futures and OTC positions, coordinates with Treasury Operations team when collateral is required.
  • Partner with Accounting and Audit teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Review, analyze, interpret and provide daily mark to market P&L reporting and verification.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as requested.
  • Support, identify, and assist in the implementation of process and systems improvements, from system testing and implementations to desk level processes.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures for all activities.
  • Participate in regular internal Audit, Compliance and Business Controls initiatives to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of existing policies and procedures.

Min. Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in risk management, finance and/or banking, particularly experience related to commodity markets.
  • Experience with a company that operates globally.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, collaborative, focused on relationship-building.
  • Able to work under pressure, attention to detail, and internal drive for innovation. You will be expected to develop new tools, reports and processes.
  • Demonstrated risk and data analytics skills including advanced Excel skills, basic PowerBI.
  • Experience with trade management or ETRM systems, especially CXL Triplepoint.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or other quantitative field.
