About The Role

As a Senior Trainer (India-based) you will play a critical role in scaling out the awareness and enablement of CockroachDB across our GSI and Cloud partnerships. This individual will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs on CockroachDB covering development, architectural, and operational aspects. The Senior Trainer will work with our Education team to customize training material and labs to conform with the needs of our partners. The ideal candidate has deep expertise with relational databases, a passion for teaching, and a solid understanding of distributed architectures including cloud. While this is a remote role, you must be based in Chennai or Bangalore to be eligible. 

You Will

• Architect and develop sample applications using a variety of programming languages (e.g., Java, Javascript, Python) and modern app frameworks.
• Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions to educate GSI teams on designing and operating CockroachDB environments.
• Customize detailed training materials, including presentations, and hands-on labs, tailored to GSIs' needs.
• Create customized training programs to address specific requirements and scenarios relevant to each GSI partner.
• Help scale the training program through train-the-trainer sessions
• Conduct office hours to support CockroachDB certification learning paths, helping promote and expand CockroachDB certified associates across GSIs
• Provide ongoing support and mentorship to GSI teams, helping them overcome challenges and optimize their use of CockroachDB.
• Stay updated on the latest CockroachDB features and best practices to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
• Gather feedback from training participants to continuously improve the training program and work with the Education team to inform product development and customer support.
• Assist in the certification process for GSI partners, ensuring they meet the standards required to deploy CockroachDB solutions effectively.

The Expectations

In your first 30 days, you will learn about CockroachDB and figure out where the product would be a good fit for certain use cases. During this time, we also believe it’s important for you to establish internal relationships across sales, product, and engineering to effectively be able to navigate resources to help you in your efforts with customers.

After 60 days, you will be leading training efforts across our GSI and Cloud partners. As you continue to grow in the role, you will work closely with our education and product team to build a feedback loop that informs them on the customer voice. You will also guide the development of our training material, future courses, and lab environments.

You Have

• Proven track record of at least 5 years in a training or instructional role, preferably within the technology or IT services sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with database management systems; preferably DB2, Oracle, or Postgres.
• Proven experience in a training or instructional role, preferably within the technology or IT services sector.
• Experience in creating and customizing learning content to meet the evolving training needs
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner to both core technical and non-technical audience.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native environments, distributed systems, and database architecture.
• Ability to travel as needed to conduct in-person training sessions at GSI partner locations.
• Advanced skills in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Javascript, Python).
• Understanding of at least one other programming language is a big plus (e.g., Java, Javascript, Python)
