Your role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trajectory Data Scientist/Data Administrator to join our JETS II contract team located at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
What you'll do all day:
- Provide Big Data infrastructure, analysis, pipelines, and interfaces
- Use data analytic tools to perform queries
- Use data visualization platforms to organize and present summarizations, predictive analysis, comparative analysis, dashboards, and reporting
- Provide processing, cleansing, and verification of the integrity of data used for analysis
- Provide data mining and analytics to recognize patterns/trends & investigate anomalies
- Use data analysis to leverage statistical techniques
- Drive efficiency by automation of manual processes, where possible
- Perform other duties as required
- Are a self-starter and require little oversight to complete given tasks

Minimum requirements for this position:

- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience
- Able to manage data storage of > 10 TB in a logical and accessible manner
- Database Experience (Relational and NoSQL Databases): SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Experience in cloud hosting of data, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Able to perform SQL queries and form digestible reports from > 1 TB dataset
- Experience automating data management using tools like Gitlab CI, Jenkins
- Experience with web apps/tools for end users to interact with stored data
- Excellent understanding of statistical concepts
- Excellent Python development skills
- Ability to write clean, elegant, well-documented, and maintainable production-level code
- Experience in developing, deploying, and supporting models in production
- Experience in model validation
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse team consisting of NASA civil servants and contractor employees
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance on a collaborative engineering team
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at meetings
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants
- A bachelor's degree in data or computer Science from an ABET accredited school
- Experience with spacecraft trajectory simulations
- Experience with Go, Rust, R
- Experience with source code management tools (Git/GitLab)
- Proficiency in machine learning algorithms
- Proficiency in Linux
- Proficiency in FORTRAN
- Proficiency in graphical tools
