We provide transit design services for a wide variety of clients, including state DOT's, transit agencies, and cities both in Utah and throughout the intermountain west. • Have project management, design management, or lead design experience on transit-focused projects
  • Lead design efforts from concept-level through ready-for-construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate meetings, action items, and other communications with a focus on resolving technical questions and issues
  • Develop and review submittals for compliance with standards and design criteria
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations, reports, memos, drawings, and visual aids
  • Assist in maintaining project controls and documentation
  • Support client relations development and management

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

It is expected that applying candidates will meet most of these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) (required)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
  • Strong background in transit design including light or heavy rail, bus rapid transit, station area design, or multi-modal connections

  • Experience working for or with public transit and other public agencies
  • Ability to lead and/or support client maintenance and business development efforts
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Thrive in a fun and collaborative environment

At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits. Including, but not limited to:

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • 401(k), with no vesting period
  • Professional development opportunities including in-house training
  • Paid professional organization membership and professional licensure

You would be working with a team of passionate and fun engineers, planners, and project managers, with an opportunity to diversify your project portfolio and grow in your role. This position can be based throughout the western United States and reports to the Cottonwood Heights, UT office. Remote opportunites may be available for the right candidate.

Recent studies from LinkedIn and the Harvard Business Review show that women hold back on applying for jobs (by 20% compared to men) because they believe that candidates need to meet all criteria to be hired, and not because they couldn't do the job well. Horrocks is committed to finding the right person and empowering women and minorities to be successful and advance in the company. We encourage you to apply.

Horrocks is committed to equal pay and opportunity and is committed to leadership development, training opportunities, and mentoring for our staff.
