Senior UI Designer, Wavelength (Minneapolis)

As a Senior UI Designer (Wavelength), you will lead the UI design of a core product on Solsten’s platform. At Solsten, we believe that product design flourishes by distinguishing UI and UX roles. It is UI’s role to turn UX’s architecture into an intuitive, trustable, and lovable experience. Partnering closely with a UX Designer and a world-class group of engineers, data scientists, and product managers, your focus will be to create a stunning experience that makes psychological data intuitive and actionable. Your day-to-day will include developing expressive UI solutions and design systems that magnify the experience defined by your UX partners.

• Partner closely with your UX Design partner to ensure your UI solutions are intuitive and effective.
• Lead collaborations with UX, PM, and Eng stakeholders to build a resonant, original, and consistent UI across the entire product.
• Align with stakeholders throughout projects, accounting for user, team, business, and technical goals. Occasionally scope new projects and define milestones.
• Take ownership of the Solsten design aesthetic and expand upon it to express the brand and magnify the vision.
• Work with other designers to establish, increase quality of, and support a user-friendly design system. Build relationships with engineering and maintain coherence with a component library.
• Energize the product and design teams through mentorship, domain expertise, curiosity, feedback, and inspiration - growing Solsten Design’s culture.
• Apply masterful visual craft throughout the product and occasionally supporting internal and marketing design needs.

• 6+ years of UI design experience (design and leadership)
• Excellent portfolio of product UI design work for desktop, mobile, responsive, and SaaS products demonstrating a passion for visual craft.
• Experience improving 3-5 year old SaaS products.
• Experience creating, leveraging, and supporting UI design systems.
• Experience partnering with engineers to ensure product excellence at launch.
• Fluency articulating and applying visual design principles (color, shape, typography, hierarchy, gestalt, etc).
• Familiarity with accessibility concepts and best practices.
• Expert in Figma and Illustrator. Proficient at prototyping, and motion.
• Bachelor’s degree in design, art, or equivalent professional experience.
• Bonus: Passion for gaming and psychology.
• Bonus: Experience in the gaming industry or on SaaS product experiences.
