Job Description

DNAnexus is growing its team of globally-recognized engineers and scientists to provide novel tools for visualizing and analyzing genetic data. Our work helps save lives, and we’re seeking engineers who are impassioned by that.

DNAnexus is seeking JavaScript engineers who:

• believe in the power of functional composition over object inheritance
• fully understand a modern UI stack including React/Redux, JSS, Webpack, and ES7
• are motivated to help develop and evangelize even more advanced solutions
• are committed to proving their code’s stability through testing
• are motivated by having a measurable, positive effect on the world

You will be working with a diverse, international UI team to build cutting-edge applications that help our customers visualize and analyze DNA sequencing data. Science nerds please apply!

Technologies we use:

• Typescript with a focus on modern, compliant browsers (Javascript in older code)
• React/Redux-based stack (including React-query, RTK, Redux-saga)
• JSS for themed, reusable components
• Jest, React-testing-library and Cypress for automation testing
• Prettied and ESLint to increase the comfort of our development
• IndexedDB and web-workers for large data storage & processing
• D3.js and SVG for data visualization
• Modular architecture approach and domain-driven design
• Storybook for component library design & discovery
• Github for collaboration and automation
• Webpack to help us bundle it all up 

Qualifications

• 4+ years of UI development experience
• Ability to work well with a diverse team and take lead on specific features
• Experience with large-scale modular projects and component libraries
• Rock-solid JavaScript ES6+ and TypeScript knowledge
• Solid HTML5/CSS3 knowledge
• React is essential; Redux, RTK, Sagas and React-query are plusses
• Good sense of visual and interaction design; experience in data visualization a plus
• Knowledge of genetics and DNA sequencing not required, but certainly helpful
• Passion for building UI!
