About the Role:
The Senior Underwriting Analyst will have the prime responsibility for job duties relating to the risk of merchant accounts and will assist in answering questions from other agents when the supervisor is not available. The Senior Underwriting Analyst will work closely with their Sr Manager of Underwriting- Merchant account to use their analytical expertise to review risk exposure on more complex review for both new and existing merchants. They will work closely with the Risk, Portfolio Monitoring, and Credit Strategy teams as well as the Sales team In addition, the Sr Analyst will share feedback regarding process improvements and / or training and skill development opportunities with the underwriters based on QA reviews.
What Youāll Do:
- Utilizing credit tools, techniques and data analytics to perform merchant reviews
- Analyze merchants using year end and interim financial statements including balance sheet, income statements and financial ratiosĀ
- Investigate merchants over threshold and determine appropriate values based on risk review
- Work closely with Risk, Portfolio Monitoring and Credit Strategy on high risk merchants concerns
- Collaborate with Sponsors and PartnersĀ on issues on new or existing merchantsĀ
- Assist in the Quality control review process to ensure quality standards are being met by the Underwriting specialists
- Determine updated procedures and policies as needed for areas of change as new Risk issues are pointed out
- Assist in manual tasks as needed (e.g. pulling daily lists, metrics, etc.)
- Work closely with leaders and colleagues in the department to bring to light possible areas of opportunity for agent growth
- Be open minded and flexible with constant changes to process
What We Look For:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial Credit Analyst
- BA/BS or higher highly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of financial analysis techniques, credit risk assessment, and industry best practices
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in analyzing and interpreting financial data
- Proven track record of successful credit analysis and risk assessment in a similar role
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to prioritize with strong organizational skills
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Team player, proactive approach to helping other team members
- Proven ability to remain positive during stressful situations
