Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Sustainability Software is responsible for creating software products that help our customers optimize operations and cost while reducing waste and emissions. We are looking for a Senior UX Designer to help our Engineering Lifecycle Management product team build excellent customer experiences informed by user needs. IBM’s Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) is a comprehensive end-to-end engineering solution that stands at the forefront of the market seamlessly guiding users from requirements to systems design workflow and test management extending the functionality of ALM tools for better complex-systems development.As the Senior UX Designer you will partner with design researchers and others to understand user needs design solutions and validate those with customers. You will become an expert in the domain drive stakeholder alignment and demonstrate impact and influence on the product roadmap. Rigor attention to detail insatiable curiosity comfort with ambiguity and excellent time management will be critical to your success.Responsibilities * Collaborating with developers architects design researchers and technical experts to conduct discovery projects. * Gathering organizing and synthesizing complex technical information from a variety of sources and creating artifacts that communicate that information to other designers.* Creating key UX artifacts such as concept maps storyboards taxonomies prototypes patterns information architecture workflows and design specifications.* Breaking down large projects into epics and stories that fit within the agile process.* Participating in reviews of design delivery work to ensure the discovery vision has been carried out.* Owning operational outcomes for discovery work managing project tasks and deliverables using agile methodologies.* Driving alignment by collaborating with developers marketers product managers and other design teams to drive a shared understanding of users’ needs and behaviors.* Pursuing disciplined innovation with emphasis on cross-functional collaboration experimentation and learning.* Contributing to a positive critique and feedback culture delivering feedback with honesty and kindness and receiving feedback with openness and a growth mindset.* Understanding business problems across our customer set in order to have context for deliverables.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• At least 7+ years of experience in solving complex user problems through user interface design creating mockups and prototypes (low- and high- fidelity) as well as other design artifacts.
• Demonstrated evidence of managing relationships across the stakeholder spectrum (internally and externally with clients).
• Known for transformational leadership and sustained record of excellent design work and leadership.
• Experience with creating user scenarios for usability testing analysis of industry trends task analysis workflow design layout & composition and reporting conclusions in well-developed documents.
• Experience with design tools (Figma Sketch InVision Adobe Creative Cloud etc.).
• Strong communication storytelling and documentation skills.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic team based environment.
• Contribute to a positive critique and feedback culture delivering feedback with honesty and kindness and receiving feedback with openness and a growth mindset.
• Portfolio of previous work must be presented incorporating UI designs and/or sketches that demonstrate an understanding of discovery wireframing interaction design and design best practices.
