The Senior UX designer will be responsible for gaining deep insight into our users' behaviors and needs through user research and product discovery. You will work closely with your product, design, and engineering peers to translate research insights into new product features while shaping the core UX from early concept to launch. Additionally, you will have opportunities to improve the usability and design of existing features, flows, and design system patterns.
Our product streamlines computer vision and empowers people across a multitude of industries to do amazing things. Although we don't require you to be a computer vision expert out of the gate, you will succeed in this role if you take a user-centered approach to design and have a deep interest in understanding and simplifying complex problems.
What You Will Do
  • Lead and participate in user research sessions, synthesize and engage others in the findings to inform the direction of new and existing features.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, site maps and other artifacts to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas throughout early, mid, and late stages of a feature.
  • Help refine the architecture, user interface, product features, and end-to-end experience for new features/functionality.
  • Use Plainsight's set of established design and visual patterns to strengthen consistency across our product suite. When necessary, innovate and expand upon our core set of design system components.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, and marketers to help define business and feature requirements; analyze empirical data, usability findings, market research, and proven UX principles to justify and prioritize these requirements along with the product management team.
  • Assess and optimize the effectiveness of new and existing features by leading and participating in user research and user testing sessions.
  • Create, influence, and establish internal UX design pattern standards across different projects and initiatives.
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and a seamless user experience to complex designs.

Desired Competencies and Experience
  • 6+ years experience.
  • Experience with SaaS or PaaS enterprise applications.
  • Experience designing a product for a technical user or highly complicated interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design approaches and has experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights.
  • Advanced ability to communicate complex information using design tools, including low fidelity to high fidelity prototypes, journey maps, storyboards, service blueprints, task flows, diagrams, wireframes & specs, and presentations.
  • Strong fluency in design and prototyping software such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, UXPin, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools.
  • Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides. Has a high attention to detail and takes pride in their craft.
  • Strong ability to present designs and tell a story through their work to solicit actionable feedback from users and key stakeholders.
  • Can rapidly iterate on design approaches and discard or revisit ideas that aren't working with low-ego.
  • A collaborative attitude, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and ability to be a strong partner to product managers and engineers throughout the design process.

This role is 100% remote. Our entire company works virtually, and often across time zones. You will be based remotely and will need to be well-versed in the use of Slack and video conferencing.
Plainsight is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law.
